Behind the Scenes: Love Me Then

Love Me Then was a four-night shoot in a bar in Kreuzberg. We had permission for a specific set of days, and from the moment we started, it was clear that everything would have to move faster than we'd planned.

What made it work was the crew. Getting a team that talented and that kind together on a tight indie shoot isn't something you take for granted, and every single one of them showed up fully. This meant everything and is visible in the movie.

The bar itself also turned out to be a real collaborator. The staff were generous and genuinely invested in what we were making. One of them even volunteered as a production assistant during the day. The space gave us three distinct areas to work with, which was exactly what the film needed.

Visually, we came in with a strong, specific vision: light leaks, warm and cold contrast, lens flares, vintage glass. Everyone on set understood it instinctively, and there was never a moment where we had to over-explain. Jonas and the team just got it.

The time pressure was real though. The bar was still operating, so every day had a hard out and we had to be out at the exact minute. But that constraint did something unexpected: it made us work like a focused village. Every day the schedule held, and by the end we had become a tight, concentrated unit. During the breaks we laughed and during the shoot we were locked in.

Saying goodbye on the last night got emotional. That probably tells you everything about how the week felt.

Now, a few weeks later, we're deep in post-production, which brings its own adventures. But we're already planning the premiere, which will double as the wrap party we never got to have. After that: festival submissions, marketing, and whatever comes next.

Stay tuned.

Thank you to everyone who was involved ❤️
